Talks / AUS

Summit dives into the bold, transformative role of artists as truth tellers and mischief makers. But this isn’t your typical afternoon of panel discussions. Expect an artist-led day and night of critical culture and ideas exploration, where some of the Festival’s most dynamic creatives unpack the stories and themes driving their work.

Summit brings you five sessions of panel talks and discussions at our Embassy hub at Perth Town Hall. Doors open at 1pm and from then you can be involved in sessions at 1.30pm, 3.15pm, 5pm, 6.45pm & 9.15pm. Choose one session or take them all in!

Each session is ticketed separately, and you Pay What You Can for each. That’s really what you can – anything from $0 (though we recommend $25 a session). You can book online or just rock up on the day.

The venue will not be cleared between Sessions One and Four so feel free to stick around. Staff will scan your ticket for each session inside the venue. If you want to stay on and haven’t bought a ticket, you can do that online or at the box office at the entrance to the venue.

The first four sessions of the day run for 75 minutes including a Q&A session at the end. The final session is a performance lecture that runs for 45 minutes.

The conversations may be big and bold, but the atmosphere is relaxed with comfortable seating and even some bean bags! The bar will be open before and after each session so you can enjoy a snack and a cold drink.

If you’re curious about the deeper power of storytelling and artistic rebellion – Summit is for you!

From 1pm we’ll open the bar at The Embassy where you can order delicious sandwiches, rolls and salads from Little Loaf Bakery (vegetarian and gluten free options available) and a cold drink. If you’re after a hot beverage, you’ll have to visit one of the local cafes in the city.

Grab a snack and a drink (alcoholic or otherwise) before or after each session and enjoy it while you explore how art can provoke, inspire and hold a mirror to society.

From 9pm, ahead of our final Summit session, we’re switching to our Up Late at The Embassy menu. Tuck into sausage or spinach rolls created by Gather Foods, a range of toasties and sandwiches or a simple bowl of olives for an evening snack.
