More Info

Born in Tokoroa and raised in Brisbane, the young musician had already released two EPs and been nominated for the prestigious Australian Music Prize by the age of 21, before relocating to London, signing with legendary label Ninja Tune, and becoming a fixture – via his dance-music alter ego, Dan Kye – on the soul-electronic scene. His third album, 2019’s Origin, caught the attention of tastemakers, while his final album for Ninja Tunes, 2020’s singer-songwriter-inspired What We Call Life, earned him some of his most glowing reviews to date. At the same time, he collaborated on tracks such as Disclosure's Masterpiece, Loyle Carner's Ottolenghi and Bonobo's Shadows, and found fans in heavyweight producers like Robert Glasper, Terrace Martin and Chic’s Nile Rodgers.

'Unquestionably, Rakei’s most ambitious and instrumentally expansive work to date'.
