Meg McGuire

Meg McGuire is a Kungarakan Traditional Owner whose ancestral homelands lie in the Finniss River region south of Darwin in the Northern Territory. Meg has called Perth her home for over 40 years. She is a writer, artist, musician and Managing Director of Go Cultural Aboriginal Tours and Experiences, a role focused on business development and strategic planning as well as staff recruitment, training and research. Meg commenced working life as a Special Librarian with the Commonwealth Department of Aboriginal Affairs and quickly expanded into Ministerial work, Aboriginal programs, medical research and community engagement roles in employment, education, health and policy within urban, rural and remote Western Australia and the Northern Territory. Meg is currently an Appointed Member of the Executive Board of Destination Perth, a regional tourism organisation comprised of industry representatives appointed for their skills and experience in the tourism industry. She was once Chairperson of and maintains ties with her Kungarakan community. She holds two degrees from Curtin University, a Bachelor of Applied Science (Librarianship), Graduate Certificate in English (Creative Writing), and a Cert IV in Training and Assessment. Meg is a Founding Member of BNAA and has acted as Vice-Chair of the Board since its inception in May 2022.

Dr Kerry Trayler

Dr Kerry Trayler is an aquatic ecologist with 30 years experience working in fields of river restoration, environmental flow and estuarine management. At the Dept Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, she is Principal Scientist for Rivers and Estuaries and in that role is responsible for overseeing a team of people focussed on providing scientific effort and advice for management of Swan Canning waterway. Kerry will cover information about the waterway, issues it is facing now and into the future and the importance of river carers. Victoria Laurie is an award-winning Perth Journalist and author. She sits on the Walkley Foundation Board and was the founder of national not-for-profit organisation Women in Media. She has written two natural history books and has a strong personal interest in conserving nature.
