Welcome to the Orchestra-oke submissions page! This page contains all the information you need to submit your Expression of Interest (EOI) form and participate in this exciting event. 

Before submitting, please review the video requirements outlined below. Submissions that do not meet the technical requirements will not be accepted.

General questions

Orchestra Karaoke (Orchestra-oke) is a unique event where you get the chance to sing your favourite song onstage in front of a big audience with a live orchestra accompanying you!

To participate, submit a video of yourself singing one of the songs from our provided Song List on Spotify. If selected, you'll get to perform live with the orchestra.

The event is open to anyone who loves to sing and wants to experience the thrill of performing with a live orchestra.

No! You do not need to be a professional singer. This event is for everyone who loves to sing, whether you’re an experienced performer or just passionate about music.

Video submissions

  • Format: MP4 or MOV
  • Duration: Up to one minute per song
  • Submissions: Up to three different songs, one song per video
  • File Size: Maximum 100MB per video
  • Quality: Ensure clear audio and video; minimise background noise

  • Song Choice: Choose from the official song list only: Spotify playlist
  • Recording: Record your video in one continuous take with no edits or cuts
  • Content: Each video must include both the verse and chorus of the selected song
  • Accompaniment: You may use an instrumental backing track, sing along to the song on our Spotify list, or perform a cappella. Focus on showcasing your vocal performance
  • Framing & Lighting: Keep your face fully visible with good lighting

You only have to submit one video. But you are allowed to submit up to three videos, each featuring a different song.

  • Record in a quiet space.
  • Use a tripod or hold the device steady.
  • Test audio and video before submission.

Submissions close at 8pm AWST, Mon 27 Jan 2025. Late entries won’t be accepted.

Here’s the Spotify playlist featuring all the songs that will be performed on the night. These are also the approved options for your video submissions.

Selection and notification

All participants are selected by the Perth Symphony Orchestra based on song interpretation and performance confidence.

All participants will be contacted via email by Mon 3 Feb. If selected, you will have 48 hours to respond, or your place will be offered to another singer.

Rehearsals and Performance

Yes! Selected participants will need to attend the following:

  • Orchestral Rehearsal: Wednesday, 19 February (evening)
  • Sound Check: Friday, 21 February (evening)
  • Performance: Saturday, 22 February at Riverside Gardens, Bayswater, 7:30 PM

Feel free to dress in performance-appropriate attire. Think about what makes you feel confident and fits the style of the song you’re performing.

Yes, professional-grade microphones and sound equipment will be provided.
