Olivier Assayas has directed sixteen films for cinema, as well as documentaries on cinema for television, music videos and short films. His films have competed at the Cannes film festival six times, and in 2016 Personal Shopper was awarded Best Director at Cannes. Assayas was nominated for an Emmy for the TV mini-series Carlos in 2011. He is married to the director Mia Hansen-Løve (Things to Come).
