Cristian Mungiu won Best Film at the Cannes Film Festival for 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days in 2007, marking the first time that a prize was awarded to a Romanian filmmaker in that festival’s history. His five films to date have been awarded over thirty times at film festivals around the world, including 2016’s Best Director award at the Cannes Film Festival, for Graduation.
