Breaking it down with ... Margaret Glaspy

Thursday 15 December 2016

Indie-pop powerhouse Margaret Glaspy captivates with her low slung guitar, ingenuous lyrics and killer pop hooks. We asked the US-import a few questions about life on and off the stage.

Describe your live show in one sentence:

The live show is full of heart.

What is the greatest thing about being a musician?

The greatest thing is honestly making music. My happy place is in my room pecking away at a new song or being on stage and trusting the musicians that I'm playing with that we can fall into a song together and see what happens. That’s an amazing and comforting feeling.

Who is your favourite artist right now?

My favorite artist right now is probably Björk. I'm living in Vespertine while touring in Europe at the moment.

Top three songs you love to dance to:

‘PYT’ (Pretty Young Thing) by Michael Jackson, ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered’ by Stevie Wonder, and ‘Hypnotize’ by The Notorious B.I.G.

Something most people don’t know about you:

I don’t know what people know about me. I study Korean. That's probably unknown.

What can’t you live without when on the road?

Books.

What is the best thing you have heard about Australia or Perth?

That it’s absolutely gorgeous.
