Michaela McGuire



Michaela McGuire is a journalist, author, curator and festival director who lives in Melbourne. She is the author of ‘Apply Within: Stories of career sabotage,’ the Penguin Special ‘A Story of Grief’ and ‘Last Bets: A true story of gambling, morality and the law.’ She has worked as a columnist for the Saturday Age, QWeekend and throughout 2013 and 2014 she wrote a weekly blog on politics and current affairs for The Monthly called 'Twirling Towards Freedom'. Her journalism has appeared in The Monthly, Good Weekend and The Saturday Paper. In 2015, McGuire was appointed Artistic Director and co-CEO of the Emerging Writers’ Festival, Australia’s largest arts organisation for emerging writers. McGuire founded Women of Letters with Marieke Hardy, which they will be curating at the Perth Writers Festival.
