Just Announced! Season Two of the Lotterywest Festival Films

Friday 20 January 2017

Lotterywest Festival Films Season Two has some of the hottest new international films of 2016 and early 2017.

We begin with two actors at the top of their game; Isabelle Huppert in Things to Come and Kristen Stewart in Personal Shoppers. Huppert and Stewart have very different acting styles, but they both share the magnificent ability to create vivid, complex characters that will linger in the mind.

Next up is Handsome Devil, a completely winning Irish film about school life and being yourself. We’re very happy that the film's director, John Butler, will join us for Q&As at UWA Somerville.

The King’s Choice plunges us into the high-stakes early days of World War II in Norway, while Lady Macbeth takes us further back, to 1860’s England, for a radical view of womanhood.

Between Romania’s Graduation and Iran’s The Salesman, each an enthralling drama about family under pressure, we have Fire at Sea, the most lauded and engrossing documentary of 2016.

Finally, in April, The Music of Strangers: Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble will leave us on a toe-tapping high with its vision of collaboration, learning and hope through music.
