Savour many fabulous nights of the best world cinema under the stars at the magnificent picture garden, the UWA Somerville. What better way to spend an evening than picnicking with friends before the sun sets and the silver screen lights up.

THE HOME OF LOTTERYWEST FILMS

The Lotterywest Films program runs from 20 Nov 2023 to 31 Mar 2024.

Door ticket sales from 5.30pm nightly. Picnickers are welcome from 6pm but must be seated by 8pm (7:30pm from 4 Mar 2024). Bring a picnic or choose from the mouth watering foods available at the venue.

GETTING THERE

Somerville is accessible by car, public transport or bicycle. 

PARKING

UWA has many car parks patrons can access. Please refer to all signage in the car park for payments and duration. The closest car park to Somerville Auditorium, that does have access bays is:

Car Park 1
Located on the north side of the Recreation Centre
Entry via Stirling Highway
5 x ACROD bays

TRANSPORT OPTIONS

Buses frequently travel past UWA along Stirling Highway and Mounts Bay Road. Please refer to the Transperth website for details. Plan your journey with Transperth on their website or call their info line 13 62 13.

CYCLING

There are bicycle racks located at the entrance to Somerville beside the Recreation Centre.

FOOD OPTIONS

Sit back, relax and check out our onsite Bar. Charlies Pizza also offers a range of pizzas, hot food and salad, which you can enjoy before the film. See the menu and order ahead via their website

Also, feel free to BYO alcohol and picnic.

Please note: the bar will not serve alcohol on Good Friday, 29 Mar. You are welcome to BYO. 

ETIQUETTE

Seats cannot be saved prior to gates opening at 6pm. Any items left on seats prior to 6pm will be taken to lost property. 

Please note, saving seats for other patrons does not guarantee them entry. If you want to guarantee entry for other patrons in your party, we recommend you purchase tickets for them when you enter the venue. Failure to do so will prevent their entry if the venue reaches capacity.

It's a good idea to get to the cinema early to get your seat.

Please note:

Management reserves the right to inspect and search bags brought into or out of UWA Somerville.

UWA is a smoke-free campus.

No pets permitted within the UWA Somerville grounds, unless you require an Assistance Animal. 

SUSTAINABILITY

We want to reduce waste and maximise recycling at UWA Somerville Auditorium. Thinking of buying a coffee or wine? Keep cups are welcome!

Bringing a picnic? Go for reusable over disposable containers every time.

Whether you get snacks here or bring your own, at the end of the night please do the right thing, and put rubbish in the right bin!

Check the signs on the rubbish bins provided to see what can go in each.

FILMS CANCELLATIONS

Film screenings are subject to certain weather conditions.

Lotterywest Films will go ahead rain or shine unless there is a risk to patrons or staff.

Updates on any changes to the film schedule are broadcast by 7pm online on the website and across our social media channels.

ACCESS INFO

GETTING AROUND

Pick up and set down is available in UWA's Car Park 1. A bay is allocated for drop off on the eastern side of the car park.

Level access to venue from paved entry.

Venue flooring is a combination of paving and compact dirt.

SEATING

Wheelchair seating is available on the centre aisle in the back row of the front block.

Two seats have been reserved on either side of these spaces for accompanying patrons.

Wheelchair seating is also available on the side of the auditorium. Speak to our lovely venue staff on arrival if you require assistance.

Hard backed plastic chairs are available for patrons who are unable to sit in the deckchairs. These chairs may be used in the wheelchair areas only. Speak to one of our friendly staff members if you require a chair.

TOILETS

A universal access toilet is located in the foyer of the neighbouring Octagon Theatre. Additional accessible toilets are located in the Music building.

AUDIO

There is no audio loop available for performances in UWA Somerville Auditorium.
